Quick Start Guide

This guide helps you quickly start using Osito Protocol on Berachain.

What is Osito Protocol?

Osito is a lending protocol on Berachain that provides immediate utility for tokens through mathematical security rather than oracles or governance. It allows eligible tokens to be used for borrowing and staking without subjective assessments.

Connecting to Osito

  1. Visit app.osito.finance
  2. Connect your wallet (MetaMask, WalletConnect, etc.)
  3. Ensure you're on Berachain (Chain ID: 80085)

Protocol Roles

Osito Protocol has three distinct participant roles:

  1. wBERA Lenders: Supply wBERA to earn interest (rates scale with utilization)
  2. Token Depositors: Use tokens as collateral to borrow wBERA
  3. Token Stakers: Stake tokens to earn yield without taking on debt

Token Eligibility

For a token to be eligible, it must meet BOTH criteria:

  1. Verified Deployer: Deployed by Panda Factory or Ramen
  2. Verifiably Burned LP: Some Kodiak LP tokens permanently burned

These criteria are verified on-chain without governance decisions.

Quick Actions Guide

For wBERA Lenders

  1. Navigate to "Lend" tab
  2. Enter amount of wBERA to supply
  3. Click "Supply" and confirm transaction
  4. Return to collect interest or withdraw

For Token Depositors (Borrowers)

  1. Navigate to "Borrow" tab
  2. Select eligible token and enter deposit amount
  3. Click "Create Position" and confirm transaction
  4. Enter amount to borrow against your position
  5. Click "Borrow" and confirm transaction

For Token Stakers

  1. Navigate to "Stake" tab
  2. Select eligible token and enter stake amount
  3. Click "Stake" and confirm transaction
  4. Return to collect yield or unstake

Understanding Mathematical Security

Osito calculates borrowing limits using this formula:

max_borrow = pool_BERA - (pool_BERA * pool_tokens) / (pool_tokens + dumpable_tokens)

This simulates a worst-case scenario where all circulating tokens are sold into the pool at once, ensuring the protocol remains solvent under all conditions.

Monitoring Your Positions

  • Position Health: Regularly check your positions' health to avoid liquidation
  • Dynamic Limits: Borrowing limits change as market conditions evolve
  • Liquidation Risk: Positions become liquidatable when borrowed amount > max borrowing capacity

Next Steps

  1. Read the User Guide for detailed instructions
  2. Explore the Mathematical Model to understand protocol security
  3. Check the API Documentation for integration options

Safety Tips

  1. Start with small amounts until you're familiar with the protocol
  2. Monitor your positions regularly
  3. Maintain a buffer between borrowed amount and maximum capacity
  4. Understand that market conditions can affect borrowing limits
