How wBERA Lending Works
The Lending Process
Deposit wBERA
Connect your wallet to the Osito Protocol dApp and deposit your wBERA into the lending pool. There's no minimum amount required.
Earn Interest
Your deposited wBERA immediately starts earning interest based on the current utilization rate. Interest accrues continuously and compounds automatically.
Withdraw Anytime
You can withdraw your wBERA plus accrued interest at any time, as long as there is sufficient wBERA in the pool not currently borrowed by users.
Interest Rate Model
The interest rate for lenders is based on two factors:
- Utilization Rate: The percentage of deposited wBERA that is currently borrowed
- Token-Specific Rates: Additional yield from token-specific interest
As utilization increases, so does the interest rate - creating a natural market balance.
Withdrawal Limitations
wBERA lenders can withdraw wBERA up to the point that:
total_wBERA_borrowed = total_wBERA_lent
At this point, rates become extremely high to incentivize borrowers to repay their loans or new lenders to deposit more wBERA.
Withdrawals are temporarily blocked at 100% utilization until debt is paid back and/or more wBERA is lent. This is the standard pattern for lending protocols to ensure solvency.
Safety & Security
Mathematical Safety
Osito uses pure mathematics to ensure the protocol can always remain solvent, even in worst-case scenarios where token prices crash.
No Oracle Risk
Unlike most lending protocols, Osito doesn't rely on price oracles, eliminating an entire attack vector.
100% Immutable
The protocol has no governance, no upgradeability, and no admin functions - it operates purely on its mathematical principles.
Audited Code
All protocol contracts have undergone thorough security audits by leading firms in the space.
Getting Started
- Visit the Osito dApp: Navigate to app.osito.finance
- Connect your wallet: Use MetaMask or another Web3 wallet
- Ensure you have wBERA: You'll need wBERA to deposit. If you have BERA, you'll need to wrap it first
- Navigate to "Lend": Click on the Lend tab in the main navigation
- Enter amount: Specify how much wBERA you want to lend
- Confirm transaction: Approve the transaction in your wallet
